This love letter from God was originally given to me personally. If you Google “believe it and be satisfied”, you will see pages and pages of blog posts by people who happened upon it and shared it. For this reason, you may have seen it before. If you have seen it before, PLEASE let me know your story! My name is Dr. Patty Sadallah. I am a Christian Author, Professor, and uniquely God’s Encounter Facilitator.

When I was in college, I had a boyfriend named Fred, whom I worshiped. He was a Christian, and I wasn’t yet. But he was EVERYTHING to me. It was the fall of 1979 and we had been together a little more than a year.

I was a member of a campus club that was having a planning retreat at a camp one weekend. Maureen was older than me and was assigned as my roommate for the weekend. We talked all night about God’s love and his free gift of salvation. In the wee hours of the morning, I accepted Christ.

When I got back from that weekend, I was excited to share my decision with Fred. He had some news for me too. He told me that all weekend, he had gotten the sense that God wanted him to break up with me. He didn’t know why but felt strongly that he needed to do it. I was devastated.

I immediately called Maureen and she told me that she was expecting my call. God had told her that Fred was going to break up with me and she had a letter for me. It was a letter from God about how He needed to be my first love. It was exactly what I needed. Maureen worked and prayed with me for several months teaching me from the Bible and helping me learn more about God.

Just when I was feeling better, I called Maureen on the same number that I had been calling her for months and a strange guy answered the phone. He said that they didn’t know who Maureen was and that they had had that number all year. I was confused. I searched for her contact information in the school registration office and could find no record of her. It seemed like she didn’t exist.

Had God used an angel to lead me to Him? I had always thought so. Hebrews 13:2 says, “Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!” I never saw her again.

I had that dog-eared letter for years and gave dozens of copies of it away to people who had broken hearts and needed to know that God loved them. A part of me thought that Fred and I would get back together when we were both spiritually ready. But that wasn’t God’s plan.

George and I married 7 years later. As soon as we moved into our newlywed home, I lost that letter. It had been in my Bible all that time, and suddenly, it was gone. I was heartbroken. It had become one of my treasured possessions. I guessed that I lost it because God felt like I didn’t need it anymore. But I had thought of it often.

It had been lost to me for 25 years.

Fast forward to Valentine's day, 2011 and the Lord had given me the assignment only 3 weeks prior to write my first book Clips the Move Mountains. Earlier that day God told me to write the introduction chapter of the book. I thought He was nuts. How can you write an intro to a book you only started working on? It was the end of the night and I was driving back from a women’s church event about God’s love. Driving home, late and tired, I asked God what He wanted me to write for the introduction and He brought to mind this love letter. I remember asking Him out loud, “God, are you planning on putting that letter in my hands again after all of these years?” I was filled with glory bumps of anticipation. I had looked for it on the Internet over the years a few times and I was never able to find it.

I prayed that God would let me see that letter again and if He did, I would absolutely include it in the book. So, I came home and typed into the Google search bar the only words that I remember from that letter “I am God. Believe it and be satisfied.” THERE IT WAS, pages and pages of postings of my letter right in front of me, the exact letter that I had received from God 32 years prior. “Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” — Psalm 37:4

I have no idea who posted it on the Internet originally. The Internet references amuse me because it said the letter was “posted anonymously on an online blog.” God had given it to me in 1979, long before the Internet was even conceived. But clearly, people passed it along and it went viral. God only knows how many people were blessed by it. And I hope you will be too!

Here is that love letter…

Everyone longs to give themselves completely to someone — to have a deep soul relationship with another, to be loved thoroughly and exclusively. But God, to a Christian says:

“No, not until you are satisfied and fulfilled and content with being loved by Me alone. I love you, my child, and until you discover that only in Me is your satisfaction to be found, you will not be capable of the perfect human relationship that I have planned for you. You will never be united with another until you are united with Me — exclusive of anyone or anything else, exclusive of any other desires or longings. I want you to stop planning, stop wishing, and allow Me to give you the most thrilling plan existing — one that you can’t imagine. I want you to have the best. Please allow Me to bring it to you. Just keep experiencing that satisfaction knowing that I AM. Keep learning and listening to the things I tell you . . . You must wait.

Don’t be anxious. Don’t worry. Don’t look around at the things others have gotten or that I’ve given to them. Don’t look at the things you think you want. You just keep looking off and away up to Me, or you’ll miss what I want to show you.

And then, when you’re ready, I’ll surprise you with a love far more wonderful than any would ever dream. You see, until you are ready and until the one I have for you is ready, I am working even this very minute to have both of you ready at the same time. Until you are both satisfied exclusively with Me and with the life I have prepared for you, you won’t be able to experience the love that exemplifies your relationship with Me…and this is perfect love.

And dear one, I want you to have this most wonderful love, I want you to see in the flesh a picture of your relationship with Me, and to enjoy materially and concretely the everlasting union of beauty and perfection and love that I offer you with Myself.

Know that I love you utterly, I am God. Believe it and be satisfied.”

I hope that it speaks to your heart like it did mine nearly 40 years ago! This was the beginning of many miracles that God showed me through the process of writing this book.

I had always wondered if Whether Maureen was an angel. she certainly was the messenger that gave me this precious letter from God. This story is too long for one post, so come back for the next piece tomorrow. The story picks up in tomorrow’s post where I experience the answer to that question…
